In 2005-2008, KENET received a grant from Rockefeller Foundation and Ford Foundation for an e-readiness research project. E-Readiness is the ability to use Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to develop. KENET specifically examined the use if ICT to develop research and learning in Higher Education Institutions.

KENET has since then been able to conduct two e-readiness projects namely E-readiness in Kenya (in 2006) and EA accession project Phase I (2008) and is currently in the process of the third e-readiness project called EA accession project Phase II (2010).
